Precision tungsten carbide rod blanks for end mills, drills, reamers, punches, pins, wear parts, and custom cutting tools.

Product Overview

Tungsten Carbide Rods are precision cemented carbide blanks used for manufacturing cutting tools, drilling tools, punches, pins, wear components, and other high-performance industrial parts. Manufactured from cemented tungsten carbide, these rods provide excellent hardness, wear resistance, compressive strength, and dimensional stability.

Carbide rods are commonly supplied as semi-finished blanks for further grinding, flute machining, coolant-hole processing, brazing, coating, or assembly into finished tools. Compared with conventional high-speed steel or tool steel blanks, tungsten carbide rods can support higher wear resistance and longer service life in demanding machining and wear applications.

KENIN Carbide manufactures standard and custom tungsten carbide rods according to customer drawings, finished-tool requirements, machining conditions, and carbide grade specifications. Available options include solid carbide rods, ground rods, unground rods, coolant-hole rods, chamfered rods, stepped rods, and other customized carbide rod blanks.

Applications

Tungsten carbide rods are widely used as blanks or semi-finished materials for cutting tools, tooling components, and wear-resistant industrial parts.

Typical applications include:

Solid carbide end mills
Carbide drills and step drills
Reamers and countersinks
Thread mills and taps
Rotary cutting tools
Punches and punch pins
Carbide guide pins and locating pins
Wear-resistant shafts and rods
Woodworking tools
Metalworking and CNC cutting tools
PCB and electronic drilling tools
Custom carbide tooling and precision components

Custom Manufacturing

KENIN Carbide manufactures custom tungsten carbide rods according to drawings, samples, finished-tool designs, and machining requirements.

Custom options include carbide grade selection, rod diameter, length, coolant-hole configuration, hole diameter, hole spacing, number of coolant holes, chamfer, end condition, straightness, roundness, surface finish, grinding allowance, tolerance, and inspection requirements.

We can supply solid carbide rods, rods with one or more coolant holes, precision-ground rods, unground rod blanks, chamfered rods, stepped rods, and other non-standard carbide bar products.

For an accurate quotation, please provide the drawing or sample, required diameter, length, carbide grade, coolant-hole requirement, finished application, quantity, tolerance requirements, surface finish requirement, and expected machining or service conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can tungsten carbide rods be manufactured according to drawings?
Yes. KENIN Carbide can manufacture tungsten carbide rods, carbide rod blanks, coolant-hole rods, ground rods, stepped rods, and other custom carbide bar products according to customer drawings, samples, 3D files, or detailed technical requirements. Diameter, length, coolant holes, end condition, tolerance, surface finish, and carbide grade can all be customized.
Can carbide rods be supplied with coolant holes?
Yes. Tungsten carbide rods can be supplied with no coolant hole, one coolant hole, two coolant holes, multiple coolant holes, straight holes, spiral holes, or customized coolant-hole designs according to the finished tool diameter, cooling requirement, machining depth, and application.
Can carbide rods be supplied as ground or unground blanks?
Yes. KENIN Carbide can supply unground carbide rod blanks, precision-ground rods, centerless-ground rods, polished rods, and rods with machining allowance for further grinding, flute machining, coating, or tool production.
What carbide grade is suitable for carbide rods?
The suitable carbide grade depends on the finished tool type, workpiece material, cutting speed, feed rate, machining load, wear condition, and required tool life. Grades such as YG6, YG8, K10, and K20 may be selected for different applications, but final grade selection should be confirmed according to actual working conditions.
What information is required for a quotation?
Please provide the drawing or sample, rod diameter, rod length, carbide grade requirement, coolant-hole requirement, finished application, required quantity, tolerance requirements, surface finish requirement, and expected machining or service conditions.
What are tungsten carbide rods used for?
Tungsten carbide rods are commonly used as blanks for end mills, drills, reamers, countersinks, punches, pins, rotary cutting tools, wear-resistant shafts, woodworking tools, CNC tooling, and other precision carbide components.
Can rod diameter and length be customized?
Yes. Rod diameter, length, end condition, coolant-hole structure, grinding allowance, tolerance, surface finish, and special stepped or shaped profiles can be customized according to customer drawings and finished tool requirements.
What is the difference between a carbide rod blank and a finished carbide cutting tool?
A carbide rod blank is a semi-finished raw material supplied for further grinding, flute machining, coating, edge preparation, or assembly. A finished carbide cutting tool has completed cutting geometry, final dimensions, coating if required, and is ready for use in machining.
